It’s a self-contained mystery, with many of the previous arcs brought over, whilst also paving the way for the next. Continuing on directly from the last one, it would carry the action forwards, really building effectively upon what came before. Published by Torquil MacLeod himself in 2013 on the 28th of November, this would be the third title in the ‘Inspector Anita Sundström’ mystery series. ![]() With a long career so far, he’ll continue on, with a lot more to follow yet, as he’s definitely not stopping any time soon. The book would also be the first in the ‘Jack Flyford Misadventures’, with it taking place around 1757 in Newcastle during Georgian. ![]() ![]() In 2014 he’d go on to publish a separate eBook titled ‘Sweet Smell of Murder’, which was a historical mystery novel this time round. Initially his debut was set to be a film script at first, but soon he’d adapt it into the opening of a new detective mystery franchise. Getting the idea for the series of mysteries during his own visits to Sweden, he’d work on establishing the characters and the premise. Starting out back in 2010 Torquil MacLeod would bring out the book ‘Meet me in Malmö’, which would also be the first time he introduced Anita Sundström. Often visiting Malmö and Skåne in Sweden to see his family and friends there, he lives in Cumbria with his wife Susan, and is constantly on the lookout for new ideas. Soon though, he’d begin to formulate a series of his own, turning his hand to writing mystery fiction full-time. Working as an advertising copywriter, he’d stay in this position for over thirty-six years, writing for a large audience. He would work as a teacher for some time, prior to becoming a full-time writer, as he’d later move on to live in Birmingham. This would develop through the years, becoming a more versatile writer, as he refined his voice and his style. There’s definitely more to come from him as an author too, as it’s evident that there’s a lot more for him to say as a writer.īorn in Edinburgh, MacLeod would go on to grow up in the north east of England, where he was raised with an interest in literature. Showing a lot of love and passion for the craft, he’s definitely a writer with a lot to offer, displaying a clear sense of artistry when it comes to the form. Previously working in copywriting, he’s got an immediately arresting style that instantly grabs his audience right from the outset. His penchant for page turners is something that’s fast become admired throughout the industry, with many of his contemporaries also singing his praises. The stories themselves are extremely well developed too, as they keep the reader guessing every step of the way, wanting to find out more. ![]() This has been ongoing for quite some time now, as he’s managed to create his own niche, one that really stands out from the rest. Using a direct style of language, he pulls his audience in, allowing them to essentially feel they’re a part of the action, investing themselves in the many arcs. As a household name for many too, he’s an excellent example of the genre, doing fresh and innovative things with it, in his own unique style.Ĭreating strong and solid characters, he really allows them to come alive off of the page, speaking directly to the reader almost. This has led to a highly productive and successful career over the years, with a large audience that’s been growing steadily worldwide.
